Dr. Katie Rodan

Dr. Katie Rodan, M.D.

Dr. Katie Rodan’s professional mission is “changing skin and changing lives” through her dermatology practice and the products that she creates designed for self-treatment of common skin concerns. Because these conditions often negatively impact self-esteem, empowering people with the knowledge and tools necessary to achieve skin health and beauty has been the focus of her career.

Dr. Rodan received her undergraduate degree with high honors in history from the University of Virginia and her medical degree from the University of Southern California School of Medicine. She completed her internship at Los Angeles County Hospital and her residency in dermatology at Stanford University School of Medicine, where she was appointed Chief Resident. A board-certified dermatologist since 1987, Dr Rodan established a private practice in Oakland, California treating acne as well as addressing cosmetic concerns, such as, scarring, abnormal pigmentation and aging with state of the art lasers and injectable fillers. Dr. Rodan is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Stanford University School of Medicine, her alma mater where she taught medical students and dermatology residents for over 20 years.

Dr. Rodan shares her knowledge and experience as a dermatologist, product developer, and an entrepreneur with the lay public and medical colleagues through speaking engagements at national medical meetings, universities, corporations, and women’s organizations. She is a frequently quoted expert in national publications including, Vogue, Health, Self, Cosmo, Ladies’ Home Journal, Glamour, InStyle and O Magazine. Her professional accomplishments have been profiled through articles in People, Harper’s Baazar, Allure, More, and the Oakland Magazine where she was the cover story for the “Best Doctors” issue of 2008. She has been a featured guest on The View, The Montel Williams Show, Later Today, and Bay Area local news programs.

She and Dr. Fields are the co-founders of Rodan + Fields Dermatologists. In 2004, they received the prestigious Cosmetic Executive Women’s Association Award for “changing the direction of the skin care industry.”

Drs. Rodan and Fields are authors of two books UNBLEMISHED, a self-help manual for treating and caring for acne prone skin and the national bestseller Write Your Skin a Prescription for Change a go-to guide for achieving healthy and youthful skin.
